Thanks for the heads up on that. I sure hope they settle it, as that would be a big pain for me, even just for personal email.
GMail Going the Way of MediaOne.net?
Recently I wrote about the canceling of the use of domain names by Internet providers, sending their users into a tailspin to change their email address and notify all of their contacts of the change. Now it seems like Google may be the next to do so.
The search giant lost the trademark rights to the GMail name in the UK, and the company that won the case is now taking the case to the US. This article on the GMail trademark case outlines much of the detail that led to Google losing the case.
Yet another reason to own your own domain name!

You’re welcome! GMail has been extremely popular among the tech world and now the general population, and a lot of that I believe is attributed to the invitation process that gave some exclusivity to the service.

Is Gmail going to be one of those emails used by the iPhone? I know Steve Jobs said yahoo and .mac will be involved in some kind of new email service that will be revolutionary for mobile devices.
Hi Jim - I would like to think you could check any email on an iPhone! Then again, as it will only be offered to Cingular customers, it is limiting right there.
I accidentally removed myself from your mailer list. Please put me back on if this doesnt do it….
Thanks,
Jim
Hi Jim - Right now I am offering just subscription by blog feed, and may add the email subscription, which you are offering on your Timesheet 2.0 blog. How is that working for you? I think I’ll try signing up for yours to test it out!
Hey Mike - We are still getting the majority of subscribers through the news feed, but we haven’t had email sign up for too long. I know Joe is still working out the kinks and is talking with Feedburner today. Timesheet 2.0 latest post explains what we are trying to do extremely well. I know I learned something and I’ve been working there for awhile now…
